Job Title Permanent 0.5 FTE Staff Specialist – Forensic Medical Unit – Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals (APPLY VIA ECREDENTIAL ONLY) Employer NSW Health – Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Location Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Overview The Forensic Medical Unit (FMU) provides clinical forensic services to a population of over 1 million people in Western Sydney, offering forensic assessments for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, and various expert opinions. Responsibilities Provide forensic medical examinations and assessments for adolescent and adult victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and other interpersonal violence cases. Document injuries and illnesses for victims across Western Sydney. Prepare Expert Opinions and attend court as an Expert Witness upon subpoena. Peer review opinions of other forensic examiners. Offer on‐call cover for the FMU service as rostered. Maintain up‑to‑date clinical expertise and participate in quality‑assurance, research, and education activities. Co‑operate with agency partners including NSW Police Force, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the Integrated Violence Prevention and Response Service (IVPRS). Assist in expanding forensic medicine across NSW through networking and research. Qualifications & Selection Criteria Qualifications and credentials required for core scope of practice in forensic medicine. Post‑graduate qualifications in forensic medicine, or willingness to obtain them within the first 12 months. Clinical experience in forensic assessment (sexual assault, domestic violence, child protection, forensic toxicology). Preference for emergency medicine, general practice, or drug health experience. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multi‑disciplinary teams and to communicate clearly with patients and colleagues. Strong organisational, supervision and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to manage time and resources efficiently. Commitment to self‑care, personal development, resilience, and ethical practice. Evidence of NSW driver’s licence and appropriate transport for forensic examinations. Valid Working with Children Check issued by the Office of Communities Commission for Children and Young People.
