Lead/Organiser/Campaigner – Transport Workers Union (National Office) Applications close: 5 December 2025 Work Type: Full Time Location: Sydney CBD The Transport Workers’ Union of Australia (TWU) is one of Australia’s leading campaigning trade unions, holding big companies to account over their treatment of workers such as Qantas, Amazon and the supermarket giants. With a hugely ambitious and exciting work program ahead we are looking to expand our national team and increase our capacity to fight industry changing campaigns. We are looking for union officials that are creative, hard‑working and strategic to join our dynamic team. Capitalising on recent landmark wins, the coming years will see us step up our efforts even further to take on deadly supply chains and reform our transport sectors, whether that be gig transport, aviation or trucking. The Roles Support the development, coordination and execution of the national campaign plans. Assist in the implementation of growth strategies. Support the training, development and mentoring of organisers and delegates. Coordinate action and assist stakeholder activity and outreach. Assist with lobbying and political outreach. Assist with industry and sector bargaining to build and consolidate power. Work with the communications team to develop worker communications and media opportunities. Liaise with staff in other departments of the union to achieve success for the campaign. Build and manage relationships with staff in TWU state branches. Other tasks and responsibilities as directed by the National Secretary and Assistant National Secretary. Key Skills Required A proven track record as a union organiser or campaigner. Experience with supply chain campaigning, training or development a plus. A willingness to understand and implement union growth and sector consolidation strategies. Some experience in training, developing or mentoring officials or delegates. Experience in bargaining is desired but not essential. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong communications skills, including demonstrated ability to write reports and draft internal and external communications. Good IT communications skills, including experience with Excel and digital communications. An interest in learning how to lead other team members. A commitment to labour values. Additional Information The majority of roles will be based in our national office in Sydney, with some requiring interstate travel. However, branches across Australia are also seeking to bring on additional people in similar roles, so we would also encourage interstate applications. A competitive salary is on offer to the successful candidates. The position is full time but willing to discuss part time options.
