The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community. About the role The Family Violence Respondent Practitioner plays a key role in the Magistrates' Courts response to family violence, working within a specialist team to enhance safety and accountability. The role involves direct engagement with respondents, collaboration with court and community services, and contribution to systemic improvements. Key Responsibilities Conduct assessments and refer respondents to support services and behaviour change programs Provide information to Magistrates about respondent needs and service availability Explain family violence concepts and court procedures to respondents and stakeholders Maintain accurate and confidential records, ensuring proper information sharing Represent the Court in meetings with internal and external stakeholders Prepare reports and update case management systems Travel to other courts and support satellite locations as needed Deliver education sessions to internal and external services Support continuous improvement of the Court's family violence response We care about your health and wellbeing and have partnered with Fitness Passport, an initiative that allows you to access significantly discounted fitness membership program A range of flexible working arrangements Peer Support Program designed to help create a safe and supportive workplace where colleagues look out for each other Koori staff network to enhance support for Koori staff and ensure that appropriate networks and services are readily available Ongoing professional development within a collaborative and supportive work environment About you Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, social sciences, criminal justice, or related field (highly desirable) Graduate Certificate in Social Science: Male Family Violence (highly regarded) Experience in support provision, crisis management, risk assessment, and case coordination Understanding of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, risk assessment frameworks, and Victoria Police Code of Practice Knowledge of housing, legal, financial, AOD, mental health, and cognitive impairment issues linked to family violence risk Awareness of intersectionality and cultural sensitivity when supporting Aboriginal, CALD, LGBTI, and other diverse communities How to apply Click the ‘Apply Now' button, ensuring you include the following in your application: Resume Other information CSV is the employer of staff at Courts Group.
