Allied Health Assistant – Child and Family Health Employment Type: Permanent Full Time Position Classification: Allied Health Assistants Level 1‑3 (Dependent on Qualification) Location: Penrith Community Health Centre Remuneration: $63,177.29 – $71,429.33 per annum Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: REQ Applications Close: 21/12/2025 Core Values: Collaboration, Openness, Respect, Empowerment About Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD): NBMLHD provides comprehensive public health services across the Nepean, Blue Mountains and Lithgow regions. The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of nine centers that offer a range of services for children, young people, families, adults, older people and carers. Services include health promotion, prevention, early detection, assessment, treatment and ongoing care. Partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals and community agencies ensures wide-reaching support. Role Overview: The Allied Health Assistant will collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Orthoptists to support allied health services, including the Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks and Statewide Eyesight Preschooler Screening (StEPS) programs. The role includes service delivery across Penrith Community Health Centre, preschools, schools, Early Childhood Education and Care Centres, and occasionally in clients’ homes. Responsibilities Support allied health professionals in delivering patient assessments and interventions. Assist with health and developmental screening and monocular visual acuity screening. Manage booking of appointments for allied health staff using phone and online booking processes. Provide administrative support and maintain accurate records within electronic health record systems. Act independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines. Contribute to community engagement and outreach activities across community settings. Qualifications and Experience Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance or relevant equivalent qualification, or willingness to complete required skills and competencies. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, and competency in administrative tasks. Willingness to undertake training in health and developmental screening and monocular visual acuity screening, and commitment to maintain competency. Previous experience working with children, preferably pre‑school aged. Strong organisational and planning skills, with ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Knowledge and ability to use information technology systems within a variety of applications, and commitment to training in electronic health record systems. Current valid NSW Driver’s Licence with a proven good driving record and willingness to use for work purposes, including long distances across the Local Health District. Temporary visa holders may only be employed if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified, with conditions not exceeding the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
