This role provides an opportunity to work autonomously and be supported by the technical and project management experience of our Senior and Principal Engineers. The opportunity will be suited to civil leads or civil design engineers with 5+ years experience in delivery of urban development, building civil or local government projects. In this role, you will be supported in your career development and growth in technical capability, client experience and project management.The position is based in our CBD office which has amazing views, close to Town Hall Station and steps away from soon-to-be Gadigal Metro Station.Our ideal candidates would have 5 to 10 years’ experience in civil engineering, be motivated to advance in both technical and external design team facing project roles, with a positive attitude to fit in with our supportive culture.About the role:You will be responsible for:• Project management and delivery of civil engineering for small to medium sized projects including in building, greenspace, drainage and roads projects.• Civil site grading design, road design, stormwater drainage, bulk earthworks and water quality across a broad spectrum of projects.• Coordination with Tonkin’s interdisciplinary team Australia-wide and architects, external consultants, contractors, and clients.• Escalating critical or complex design issues to senior/principal engineers and project managers.• Providing mentoring and guidance to junior members of the team.• Maintaining client relationships on the projects you work on.• Preparing fee proposals and tenders.• Complying with our quality, WHS and other systems.You will be working towards (or have already commenced):• Leading projects and preparing fee proposals• Maintaining an awareness of innovations and changes to regulations in the industry• Identifying and assessing project risks and communicating these to the team• Having an encouraging attitude towards supporting members of the team as well as the drive to grow your careerAbout You:To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:• 5-10 years of professional experience with demonstrated technical expertise within urban development and /or built environment engineering.• CPEng and NER (achieved or working towards)• Significant experience delivering civil projects from concept to detailed design to construction• High level of proficiency in 12D, AutoCAD, Vehicle Tracking, Drains and MUSIC• Demonstrated expertise in road, stormwater, grading, earthworks, swept paths and pavements• Experience working and coordinating with architects, landscape architects, project managers, contractors, Authorities and clients• Experience coordinating with internal project design resourcesThis is the ideal position for someone who is committed and passionate about furthering their career and would like to join a high performing team who are recognised for technical excellence, finding creative and progressive ways to deliver value for our clients, and putting a values based human touch into crafting solutions that have wide reaching impact.The Tonkin difference:We know people perform at their best when they enjoy coming to work.At Tonkin we offer you the opportunity to work with leading industry experts in a genuinely supportive and caring environment.
