The Role
Are you ready to shape the narrative of global news? ABC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Commissioning Editor International to join our International & Indigenous News team in Sydney.
In this pivotal role, you will drive the daily development of coverage of international news from the ABC's foreign correspondents, to deliver original, timely and high impact storytelling, in line with ABC News strategy, prioritising digital first journalism. Your editorial vision and discerning eye will ensure that ABC remains a trusted source of compelling, accurate, and thought-provoking journalism.
The Job
Provide editorial oversight and leadership to the ABC's proposed three international news hubs, including the day-to-day management of Editors in Asia, Europe and the Americas and the associated bureaux. Work closely with State Editors, Managing Editors and key program teams to ensure international news coverage is aligned with output needs and priorities in line with the News Strategy. Provide editorial leadership to the proposed multiplatform production desk to plan and produce cross-platform content. About You
You'll have:
Extensive experience in a senior editorial or commissioning role within a respected international news organization. Proven track record of delivering impactful, award-winning journalism that resonates with global audiences. Exceptional news judgment and a deep understanding of international affairs, geopolitics, and cultural nuances. Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate teams in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders worldwide.
