The Role The Associate Principal will play a pivotal leadership role within DHS, working in close partnership with the Principal and leadership team to drive high‑quality, inclusive teaching and learning across Years 7‑12. The role focuses on leading the Students at Educational Risk (SAER) portfolio and supporting the school’s vision, priorities, and direction with integrity and purpose. Responsibilities Lead instructional practice, curriculum development, and school improvement initiatives. Apply deep knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, High‑Impact Teaching Strategies, and best practice pedagogy to ensure year‑on‑year student progress. Work collaboratively with instructional coaches as part of the Scaling Up Success project to build staff capacity for high‑quality teaching. Continue the development of the Department’s Quality Teaching Strategy across all learning settings (K‑12). Provide strong leadership for professional learning communities, modelling reflective practice and coaching staff. Line manage and support staff across Years 7‑12, ensuring effective use of human resources. Coordinate and enhance programs across Lower School (Years 7‑10), including transition pathways. Work with the Deputy Principal (Primary) to promote student engagement, wellbeing, attendance, and achievement. Utilise well‑developed behaviour support knowledge, particularly restorative approaches, to positively influence outcomes for students with complex or challenging behaviours. Build and sustain effective educational partnerships and professional relationships across diverse contexts and stakeholders. Qualifications Highly organised, dependable, and able to demonstrate strong leadership and collaboration. Emotionally intelligent, relationally strong, and genuinely kind – values people and contributes to a positive school culture. Skilled at working within culturally responsive frameworks and respectful of students, families, and the Aboriginal community. Professional Benefits Attractive Country Teaching Program Allowance of $13 730 per year. District allowance of $3 210 per year.
