Regulatory Affairs Officer (Cosmetics & Skincare) – Australia & New Zealand Location: Melbourne or Auckland (Hybrid/Remote across ANZ) Employment type: Full-time / Part-time / Casual Experience: 1–3 years in AU/NZ cosmetics regulations About the role We’re expanding and looking for a detail‑driven Regulatory Affairs Officer to assess cosmetics and skincare products for compliance in Australia and New Zealand. You’ll review formulations, labels, and claims; guide teams on market entry; and keep us aligned with evolving regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Conduct ingredient assessments against AICIS (Australia) and the NZ Cosmetic Products Group Standard (EPA New Zealand). Conduct assessments against IFRA/fragrance requirements. Determine regulatory pathways. Classify ingredients and prepare AU compliance actions (e.g., AICIS Inventory checks, SIR/PID/PIR determinations, PLC where applicable). Vet marketing claims for compliance with AU/NZ consumer law; ensure substantiation where required. Coordinate SDS/safety documentation and basic product safety files; liaise with suppliers/manufacturers for technical data. Maintain internal compliance trackers and SOPs; prepare summary compliance reports for launches. Monitor regulatory updates across AU/NZ and communicate changes and impact. Qualifications 1–3 years in cosmetics/skincare regulatory affairs within Australia and/or New Zealand. Working knowledge of AICIS (incl. Inventory search, exemptions, introductions categorisation). Knowledge of NZ Cosmetic Products Group Standard (HSNO/EPA) and related conditions. Label compliance (INCI listing rules, warnings, packaging statements) and claim substantiation. Understanding of borderline product issues (cosmetic vs therapeutic). Strong attention to detail, excellent documentation habits, and clear stakeholder communication. Familiarity with IFRA/fragrance documentation, micro‑testing standards, and multi‑market compliance. Flexible work options (FT/PT/Casual) and hybrid/remote arrangements across ANZ.
