We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Project Development Engineer to join our Engineering & Planning team in Melbourne, Vic on a 24 month Max Term Contract. Reporting to the Team Leader – Recovered work, you will play a key role in ensuring project objectives are effectively controlled, monitored, and communicated. You will support successful project development, enabling efficient delivery while maintaining budget, schedule, scope, safety, and quality requirements. Key Responsibilities Define all project components, including scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring compliance with APA’s quality standards, statutory regulations, applicable codes, client requirements, and internal processes. Plan, direct, and oversee field activities conducted by the Projects Development Team, such as pipeline proving, field surveys, Pipeline protection works and excavations. Maintain a project-wide perspective by reviewing plans and customer constraints, ensuring input to design and other phases aligns with project requirements. Develop, plan, and control engineering designs to an appropriate level of detail, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, client requirements, and APA processes. Monitor and report on project progress, addressing issues proactively to maintain schedule, budget, cash flow with monthly invoices and quality objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders across teams to support efficient project delivery while maintaining safety and quality standards. About You Experience in the oil and gas industry or a similar engineering environment. Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Civil, or Materials Engineering is desirable. Strong knowledge of relevant Australian codes, standards, and statutory requirements. Proven ability in project planning, budgeting, estimating, and cost control. Experience in managing project work, meeting deadlines, conducting cost analysis, and preparing technical reports. Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
