Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council (GLALC)'s main objective, for each of our Members, is to improve and protect their social and emotional wellbeing by creating a meaningful connection between us based on mutual respect and understanding. We also provide a range of services, public meetings, information sharing and a culturally safe place for our Members to come together to yarn, connect and feel they belong. Gandangara Health Services Ltd (GHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service Organisation (ACCHO) serving the South-Western Sydney community for over eleven years. Operating under GLALC, GHS provides a variety of cultural, clinical, and allied primary health services that are grounded in cultural protocols and co‑created with the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people we serve. The Opportunity The opportunity to join the GHS as a Psychologist presents a unique and rewarding challenge, offering the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of First Peoples in South West Sydney. About You You are a compassionate and skilled Psychologist with a deep commitment to providing culturally sensitive, holistic, and trauma‑informed care to First Peoples. With a solid foundation in psychological theory and practice, you possess the unique ability to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals within the context of their cultural values and community connections. Your expertise is complemented by a profound respect for and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, enabling you to deliver therapeutic interventions that are not only effective but also deeply meaningful to the participants you support. In addition to your clinical skills, you are a proactive learner, constantly seeking to expand your knowledge and stay abreast of the latest evidence‑based practices in psychology. With a passion for making a meaningful difference and a drive to contribute to the advancement of culturally informed psychological care, you support participants on their unique paths to recovery and foster stronger, healthier communities. Essential Criteria Current and full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Postgraduate degree in psychology (Masters or Doctorate) accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) or a related field. Medicare provider number or be eligible to obtain one to offer psychological services under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), enabling billing for eligible services provided to clients. Demonstrate strong experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating substance use issues within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, using culturally informed and evidence‑based approaches. Exhibit a background in delivering high‑quality, person‑centered, trauma‑informed care, with a focus on measurable outcomes and recovery‑focused interventions. Demonstrated experience working across cultures and, in particular, with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive and supportive, culturally safe work culture. A strong understanding of cultural competence and the ability to work effectively with team members, participants, and communities from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds. Full NSW Drivers Licence and the ability to travel to local communities and events if required. Willingness to obtain a National Police Check. Current NSW employee Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act (NSW). Benefits Commitment to Life. Work.
