The General Managerwill provide leadership and be responsible for supervising the daily operations and management of the organisation while implementing the strategic direction set by the Board.They will be responsible for providing a high level of hands-on operational involvement in the preparation, planning, execution, and assessment of all state DBNSW sporting events.Additionally, the General Manager shall play a pivotal role in the administrative and operational aspects of governance, member services, and the overall organisational operations required by all clubs and DBNSWKey Responsibilities:1. Operational Management:Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organisation.Ensure efficient and effective use of resources.Implement policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.Monitor and report on performance metrics.2. Event Management:In conjunction with staff, Board and various support committees, manage the delivery of dragon boats regattas and programs, corporate and community events in NSW, including State Championships and the prestigious Lunar New Year Festival.Coordinate with team members and external partners to ensure successful event execution.Arrange for facility hire, competition structure, administration, timing, volunteer management and equipment management.Evaluate the success of events and make recommendations for improvement3. Strategic Implementation:Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement the organization's strategic plan.Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and initiatives.Monitor progress towards strategic goals and adjust plans as necessary.4. Leadership:Providing strong, effective leadership and directions to staff, members and the sport in general throughout NSWFoster a positive and collaborative work culture.5. Financial Management:Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and financial reporting.Ensure the organisation’s financial health and sustainability.Identify and pursue funding opportunities.6. Relationships:Actively represent Dragon Boats NSW, develop and maintain positive relationships with the clubs members, partners and stakeholders across the state.Represent the organisation at external events and meetings.Communicate effectively with the Board, staff, and stakeholders.Qualifications:Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Managementand/or Event ManagementProven experience in operational management, event management, and strategic planning.Demonstrated expertise and commercial success in Event Management and CommunicationsPrevious experience in a role/s requiring leadership as well as strategic thinking and planning in a not-for-profit and/or sporting environment.Experience in Work health and safety, risk management and compliance requirements relating to delivering events.Experience in working with a member-based organisationProficient skills in the use of Microsoft Office and accounting system, preferably XeroStrong leadership skillsExperience working with volunteer boards and/or committeesKey Competencies:Strategic thinking and planningLeadership and team managementOperational and financial managementEventplanning and executionStakeholder engagement and relationship buildingEffective communicationEssential Requirements
