Macquarie University Hospital (MUH) opened its doors in June 2010 as the first university campus‑based private hospital in Australia. Set in the expansive grounds of Macquarie University, amid one of the fastest growing areas of Sydney and conveniently placed within walking distance of the Macquarie University Metro, this 200+ bed teaching hospital combines state‑of‑the‑art facilities with world’s best clinical practice. The Macquarie University Hospital Pharmacy is currently seeking a motivated Oncology pharmacist. The pharmacy team delivers a high quality service to the day and ward oncology units, is part of the multidisciplinary team and participates in numerous clinical trials. The successful applicant will be a registered Pharmacist and must have a background in oncology together with a passion for delivering excellent customer service and patient care. Experience in clinical trials is desirable. Furthermore the successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and have strong organisational and communication skills. Responsibilities Aseptic compounding (non‑cytotoxic) Clinical review of oncology protocols Preparation of daily chemotherapy orders for compounding by a third party Dispensing Providing advice on drug selection to clinicians and patients Working in the dispensary and wards Liaising with external customers and internal stakeholders to ensure chemotherapy and medicines are provided in a timely manner Providing patient medication and education Supporting the trial team with the administration and dispensing of clinical trial medications and associated services All applicants must be competent, professional and committed to providing a high standard of customer care. They will also have excellent communication skills, an ability to prioritise tasks, manage their time and be able to work independently. They will be able to deal with patient needs in a sensitive manner. Applicants should be aware that they will be expected to work with and embrace the technology and computer systems of the hospital. Qualifications Prior Hospital experience, Private Hospital preferred Experience in Oncology or Trials Good working knowledge of the PBS An interest in IT/e‑prescribing systems Current Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain one prior to commencement of employment Current Australian Police Check or be willing to obtain one prior to commencement of employment Employees of this exciting business can look forward to working in a great environment where your skills and efforts are valued and rewarded.
