Primary objective Lead and manage a team of staff responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient employment actions, relating to the administration of new commencements and extensions of employment contracts for client agencies with a variety of awards, industrial agreements, and employment legislation. Context statement Workforce Services are delivered to client agencies under a centralised services model across a geographically and culturally diverse environment. The Workforce Operations and Partnership team provides WS business partners, end to end recruitment and specialised recruitment services and general HR support to client agencies. This role is based within the Employment Actions team and provides a shared service for Whole of Government operational services relating to employee commencements, transfers, contract extensions and associated employment activities. Key duties and responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day administration of Employment Actions functions for a portfolio of client agencies, ensuring that accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality are maintained within established guidelines, that time critical processes are completed on schedule. Provide regular on-the-job training to team members to ensure they have the skills and capabilities required to undertake their duties. Act as an initial escalation point for staff and client agency stakeholders; build and maintain productive working relationships to assist client agency managers and employees with their queries; trouble-shoot, triage and problem solve complex queries or escalate significant issues of concern to the Employment Actions Manager. Undertake quality assurance activities and the review of processes, and attend agency meetings to resolve problems, support change and undertake continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain own subject matter expertise through ongoing development and learning opportunities. Selection criteria Essential Proven ability and experience supervising, training, coaching and mentoring staff by modelling required behaviours and a commitment to customer-centric service delivery, placing a strong focus on staff development and independent problem solving. Extensive experience delivering employment services to large and diverse client groups, with extensive knowledge of employment contracts and employment legislation. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact with and relate to staff at all levels and from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and to maintain integrity and confidentiality. Well-developed organisational and time management skills, initiative and good judgement, the ability to work effectively in a team and independently in a time-critical, legislative environment to ensure non-negotiable deadlines are met. In-depth knowledge of processing and procedures related to the application of employment conditions, preferably gained through on-the-job experience. Demonstrated high-level computer literacy skills, including experience working with mainframe computerised payroll systems and complex HR information systems, as well as Microsoft Office software packages. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice, accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.
