Project Officer

Exciting Role- Permanent, Full-time, Herston | Assist the Growing Deadly Families (GDF) program office in the management and support of GDF initiatives to meet the project objectives. This position reports to the Program ManagerThe roleThis role is essential in assisting the GDF team and senior management with contemporary program management of projects, enabling the implementation of the GDF Strategy in partnership with the First Nations Health Office. The individual will monitor and report on project-related trends and performance, ensuring alignment with project plans, goals, and deadlines. Responsibilities include preparing and disseminating comprehensive project documentation, including management plans and materials for specific project activities, to keep committees and relevant stakeholders well-informed and equipped to achieve project objectives.In addition to providing timely administrative support and strategic advice to senior management and project teams, this position involves supporting and contributing to the development of contract management plans and procurement activities. The role requires active liaison and collaboration with internal and external stakeholder networks, facilitating effective communication and acting as a secretariat when required. The individual will also focus on developing their technical knowledge and expertise to enhance the functions of the role, utilizing strong written communication skills in the preparation of correspondence, Departmental and Ministerial Briefings, procurement documentation, and evaluation reports.

The successful personTo excel in this role, you should have a solid understanding of program and project methodologies and tools, along with the ability to work under general direction within a well-defined framework of accountability throughout all project phases. Applying project management and procurement management methodologies is crucial. You must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including the capability to prepare high-quality documentation, accurate reports, minutes, and project communications. Additionally, maintaining stakeholder relationships and negotiation skills to support project outcomes is essential. Proficiency in creating and using high-quality documents and information in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and data visualization tools like PowerBi is necessary to assist the program office in delivering outcomes.Moreover, you should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in high-pressure, politically sensitive environments and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines and commitments. An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues related to maternity services is beneficial, as well as the ability to communicate sensitively and work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organizations.While a relevant qualification is not mandatory, it is highly regarded.
