Education and Engagement Officer

About the role The Education and Engagement Officer is a field-based position focused on engaging directly with the community. Using your well-developed engagement skills, you will educate the community to improve safety and ensure compliance with various legislation. You will proactively and reactively respond to customer inquiries and, where appropriate, conduct investigations into concerns raised across a variety of responsibilities. Working independently and as part of a larger team, you must be highly motivated and demonstrate strong organisational skills with the ability to manage self, often working with competing priorities effectively. You will be responsible for delivering educative messaging in the field relating to responsible pet ownership, outdoor dining and other programs. As well as engaging with community interest groups and assisting in delivering the adopted actions contained within the Domestic Animal Management Plan. Skills and experience Demonstrated experience delivering front-facing customer service in a complex environment. Flexible and adaptive approach to engagement and problem-solving. Excellent communication skills with professionalism and experience in managing difficult conversations. Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, and enforce relevant legislation when required. Resilient, with a high level of emotional intelligence. Desirable: knowledge of Local Government functions and the role of an Education and Engagement Officer.
