Assistant Facade Engineer

An exciting opportunity in our Sydney office is available for a creative and motivated Assistant Façade Engineer to become part of the team. You will be collaborating with the best in the business, building on your specialised technical knowledge whilst working on the design of some of the most exciting projects in Australia and internationally.The Inhabit Façade Engineering team is internationally distributed, and the team is location independent, enabling access to projects across Australia, Asia, US and Europe from any location. We uniquely work across all stages of the project lifecycle, from business case and advisory to sustainability and carbon strategy to detailed modelling, construction, and post-occupancy. This means that we have a focus on real-world results rather than the hypothetical targets seen in other parts of the sustainability industry.All our team members are encouraged to develop into engineers with capabilities across our entire skillset. :Liaising extensively with our façade engineering team to learn the nuances of the role to supplement your existing structural or architectural engineering design knowledgeDeveloping knowledge and becoming proficient in Finite Element Analysis Software (i.e Strand7) to perform glass checks, referring to glass code and perform bean analysis and other software programs as requiredBecoming thoroughly familiar with relevant building codes, standards and legislative requirementsCarrying out design engineering for façade, steel and RC structures and build-ability consultancy, including material knowledge and installation techniquesAccompanying senior team members to meetings with Clients and Architects to discuss project details and relieving supervising engineer of minor details as requiredUndertaking materials and products research, liaising with suppliers and contractorsProviding assistance to engineers and design team in regard to cad and/or hand sketches for presentation and report purposesQualifications
QualificationsA strong and committed interest in structural or architectural engineering design and façade designTertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a minimum average GPA of 65 (credit average or higher)Architectural skills in Rhino / InDesign or similar softwareA positive "can do" approach and a willingness to go the extra mileAbility to work effectively and collaboratively with othersAbility to hand sketch an advantageAdvanced computer literacy skillsExcellent initiative, organisational, communication and interpersonal skillsExperience in the construction industry and strong 3D capability is an advantageAdditional Information
