Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Android Engineer to lead the development of a unique mobile application for one of Australia's leading financial institutions. You will be responsible for taking over and helping craft a truly bleeding edge mobile experience for Android. This role requires deep technical expertise in Kotlin and a passion for building public-facing apps where performance, responsiveness, security and user experience are paramount. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-wide solutions that create significant value at scale. Key Responsibilities Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform using 100% Kotlin . Architect and maintain scalable, high-performance mobile solutions capable of handling high volumes of traffic and data. Take full ownership of the app lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, releasing, and supporting apps. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications (profiling, memory management, and battery optimisation). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other mobile engineers. Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximise development efficiency. Skills & Experience Expert proficiency in Kotlin with a deep understanding of the Android SDK and modern Android architecture components. Proven track record of releasing and maintaining apps on the Google Play Store (please provide links to apps in your portfolio). Demonstrable experience developing public-facing apps with high user traffic (100k+ MAU or similar scale). Strong understanding of mobile performance profiling, concurrency, and memory management. Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning. Solid grasp of networking libraries (Retrofit, OkHttp) and dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger). Experience writing unit and UI tests (JUnit, Espresso). BSc in Computer Science or a related degree. Bonus Points For Experience with Jetpack Compose for building modern UIs. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile (e.g., Bitrise, GitHub Actions, Fastlane). Experience integrating AI/ML models on-device using TensorFlow Lite or similar. Knowledge of mobile security best practices (obfuscation, secure storage, certificate pinning). A willingness to use the latest AI tooling (e.g., code assistants) to accelerate development.
