About the Department Majarlin Kimberley Centre for Remote Health (Majarlin) is a Commonwealth‑funded University Department of Rural Health. Majarlin is based on the University of Notre Dame's Broome campus; we have staff and facilities in Broome, Kununurra, and Derby, with the East Kimberley office playing a major role in the coordination and delivery of Allied Health programmes. Majarlin's vision is to contribute to the development of a capable and culturally responsive Kimberley health workforce through inspiration, education, innovation, and research. About the Role The Student Placement Coordinator oversees the organisation and delivery of Allied Health placements across the East Kimberley. This includes coordinating logistics, supporting students, and maintaining strong relationships with clinical partners. Based in Kununurra, the role is central to delivering high‑quality, culturally responsive learning experiences for students in Majarlin's Allied Health programmes. Key Responsibilities Administration & Systems Provide high‑quality administrative support, managing student data, enquiries, and documentation. Maintain accurate placement tracking systems and prepare reports, summaries, and datasets as required. Placement Coordination & Logistics Coordinate Allied Health clinical placements with Academic Leads, Clinical Educators, and partner organisations to ensure students receive safe, effective, and culturally responsive learning experiences. Manage all logistics associated with placements, including schedules, finances, travel, and accommodation, in collaboration with relevant Majarlin teams. Stakeholder & Community Relationships Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with placement partners, universities, Aboriginal community‑controlled organisations, and other key stakeholders. Organise orientations, workshops, training sessions, and student events, including local cultural orientation activities where required. Student Support Support students throughout their placement experience through proactive communication, problem‑solving assistance, and pastoral care, escalating concerns appropriately. Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Ensure placement activities align with curriculum needs, accreditation standards, and university policies. Identify and address placement‑related issues, interpreting relevant policies and implementing practical solutions to support safe and effective placements. Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing placement processes and recommending enhancements. Other Duties Undertake other responsibilities as required and appropriate to a position at this level. Qualifications, Skills & Experience A relevant qualification and experience in administration, health, or education, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience in clinical practicum or placement coordination within a tertiary or health setting is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships across diverse professional and cultural contexts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce timely, clear, and accurate documentation. Proven ability to exercise diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information and engaging with students, staff, and external stakeholders. Advanced organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, video‑conferencing tools, and enterprise systems, with a willingness to learn new platforms as required. Awareness of contemporary issues in higher education, health service delivery, and the rural health workforce. An understanding of the complexities of working in rural and remote Australia, including the importance of working with and learning from Aboriginal communities.
