Cadet Designer – Sedgman Join us to learn on the job while you study in our 22‑year‑old Cadet Program. Overview Sedgman’s Cadet program has been running for 22 years as of 2026. We develop Cadet Designers while they pursue their studies. Many cadets stay with Sedgman permanently or return after working elsewhere. Benefits The work: 4‑year rotation program (3 years if your study is complete), covering Structural, Mechanical & Piping disciplines. The people: mentorship and buddies for technical and personal support. The support: 6 hours per week dedicated to study, plus time off for classes. The location: offices less than five minutes’ walk from South Bank TAFE and the train station. Responsibilities Complete detailed 3‑D designs from rough sketches using Autodesk Plant Design Suites. Develop multidisciplinary skills and more complex designs. Contribute to periodic reporting and maintain drafting priorities and systems. Work within budgets and schedules and maintain project files in a digital design office. Develop an understanding of Sedgman standard specifications and industry standards. Qualifications Current or recently started studies in an Advanced Diploma / Associate Degree in Engineering OR a Cert 4 in Engineering for trade‑qualified applicants. Mechanical aptitude and great attention to detail. Team‑player who enjoys learning. Experience in design / consulting / operational environment is a plus.
