Australian Energy & Environmental Markets Broker Location Melbourne CBD Reports to Head of Markets What we do CORE Markets is a markets, technology and climate solutions partner, supporting businesses on energy transition and net zero pathways. We provide commercial and capital advisory services focused on the energy transition and net zero, and corporate and institutional brokerage across energy, carbon and environmental markets. These services are underpinned by a proprietary software platform. Role In this role, you'll play a crucial part in advancing our services within the dynamic Markets team which covers a range of energy and environmental related products including Australian Electricity, Renewable energy, Energy efficiency, and Environmental Certificate Markets. Operating within a small team environment, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced colleagues and contribute to both business development and analytical functions. Responsibilities 1. Brokerage and Structured Transactions Participate in the origination, negotiation, and execution of Australian Electricity and Environmental Market contracts, including structured deals that deliver commercial and strategic value. 2. Client Account Management Develop and maintain relationships with high‑value clients in Australian Electricity and Environmental Market, provide excellent customer service, ensuring client satisfaction and addressing inquiries promptly. Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and tailor brokerage solutions accordingly. 3. Business Development Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand our presence in Electricity, Renewable Energy, and Environmental markets. Actively contribute to the development of business strategies and marketing initiatives. Participate in networking events and industry conferences to enhance the company's visibility. 4. Data Compilation and Analysis Compile, analyse, and interpret market data to provide insights and support decision‑making processes. Conduct research on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments. Prepare reports and occasional presentations using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. 5. Administrative Functions Support day‑to‑day administrative tasks related to brokerage operations. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. Assist in the coordination of internal and external meetings and events. What we are looking for Excellent communication and sales skills, with the ability to engage high‑value clients effectively. Dynamic thinking with the capacity to adapt focus in a changing, high‑pressure, and competitive environment. Some experience in Commodity Markets, Australian Electricity, Retail Energy, Energy or Renewable Energy Markets, Environmental Markets, or Environmental Commerce is preferred. Previous experience or familiarity with options trading is considered a benefit. Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges. Bachelor's degree (minimum) in finance, economics, or a related field advantageous. An enthusiasm for learning on the job and an ambitious approach to the work environment. Australian work rights are required for this position.
