Graphic Designer

An exciting opportunity exists for a junior graphic designer to join our small team. If you are looking to gain exposure to a diverse range of work from brand strategy and design, hands-on print and letterpress projects through to content creation for digital, web and social media, this is a role where you will really learn and grow
A little about us —
Creative Emporium was founded over 10 years ago specialising in brand development and beautifully crafted letterpress stationery, however over time we have grown with our client needs to be multi-disciplinary. Our work has evolved across brand and marketing strategy, graphic design for larger speciality print work, to digital marketing projects ranging from web development, digital campaigns and social media management for a broad range of clients.
What we are looking for in you —
You will work closely with our creative team and studio director to provide creative assets for social media, websites and email marketing, as well as assisting our director with day-to-day social media support for our own social media channels and key client social media accounts.
Ideally you would be familiar with platforms such as Campaign Monitor or Mailchimp, Wordpress, and Meta Business Suite as well as analytics, however the good news is that we can provide training here. So, if you consider yourself to be a highly creative, confident and enthusiastic designer who responds well to direction and isn't afraid to seek feedback, then we can help you build the skills you need to succeed.
You will also have a hands-on role managing our sister-brand, Yesterday Creative, focused purely on high-end invitations, signage and styling for the wedding industry — attention to detail and a knack for beautifully crafted typography and illustration for this brand is a must. You will relish the opportunity to be hands-on in the production of work from our letterpress studio — it's busy and there are a lot of smaller projects with simultaneous deadlines to manage, not to mention quoting, customer service and pre-press, plus you'll enjoy helping out with tasks such as cleaning the press, guillotining, finishing and packing orders. This is a retail style client-facing role, so excellent communication skills and a friendly, helpful personality are essential.
Each day at our studio is never the same so you'll need to prioritise your projects and be organised and adaptable, switching between tasks with ease.

Ideal attributes of our junior staff:
Ideally 2 years minimum experience in studio environment Creative ability with a portfolio that demonstrates your passion for graphic design across a broad range of projects Genuine interest in developing social media comms skillset A positive attitude and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing studio environment Ability to think creatively and translate ideas into engaging designs with high visual impact Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects (on Mac) Experience with Wordpress and UX design concepts Microsoft Office skills (translating designs into Powerpoint and Word templates) Excellent typography skills Strong communication skills Creatively contribute to new marketing initiatives by staying up to date with current trends and digital creative technology A highly organised multi-tasker with strong time management skills Ability to deliver work to high standard with respect to budget and deadline constraints You must be able to work autonomously and manage a project from start to finish, but also be able to take direction working effectively as part of a small creative team. Bonus points if you have any of the following skills:
Illustration skills Amateur Photography Skills Knowledge of print production processes/pre-press A flair for creative copywriting and research (social media content) Experience in social media management (training provided) Basic understanding of CSS/HTML (not essential) Our values:

3-4 days — 24-32 hours per week as a starting point.
Immediate start. Flexible working hours considered.
Open to recruiting a junior or mid weight graphic designer with remuneration dependant on qualifications or relevant industry experience.
Having a retail presence where clients can visit to see our work and the letterpress process in action, means this is an on-site role.
Our studio:
This role is based on-site in our beautiful purpose built warehouse, located in Geebung. Short walk to Sunshine Station, bus stops and an amazing coffee roaster right on our doorstep. Free street parking available.
