We’re proud to be delivering the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), and we’re looking for the best people to help make it happen. QTMP involves the design, manufacture and maintenance of 65 new six‑car passenger trains to support Cross River Rail and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games. These trains will be built at a new, purpose‑built facility in Torbanlea on the Fraser Coast. This is your chance to be part of an industry‑leading, world‑class project. You’ll work with cutting‑edge technology in state‑of‑the‑art facilities, alongside a passionate and skilled team. The role at a glance This role plays a key part in the mechanical assembly of QTMP railcars and may also contribute to the maintenance and reliability of specialised production equipment and facility mechanical systems. Key responsibilities Perform mechanical assembly tasks including torquing, bolting, piping, component and equipment installation, panel fitting, and door assembly in accordance with detailed work instructions. Operate materials handling equipment safely and efficiently to support assembly processes. Support statutory and preventative maintenance activities across facility assets and production equipment. Conduct mechanical testing, fault finding, and respond to equipment breakdowns to ensure minimal disruption to operations. Assist in maintaining the safe and reliable operation of mechanical systems within the production facility. About you Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade. Strong knowledge of mechanical rolling‑stock systems from build to testing and commissioning. In‑depth understanding of manufacturing best practices. Ability to dismantle, repair, replace, assemble and fit mechanical and engineering components. Experience in maintaining hydraulic system components. Please note: There are gate‑start roles.
