We are currently seeking applications for a Head of Department - Industrial Design & Technology commencing Term 1 2026, for a period of 12 months unless otherwise determined. About the Role As the Head of Department - Industrial Design & Technology (IDT) you will be responsible for working with the Learning and Leadership Team (LLT) to enact the school's ongoing improvement agenda. The successful applicant will significantly contribute to a high expectations school culture that is focused on continuous improvement to maximise each teacher and student's performance and potential. The Head of Department will have a strong understanding of Australian Curriculum and QCAA curriculum requirements for subjects including Accounting, Business, Digital Solutions, Design, Engineering, Legal Studies, Junior Digital Technologies and Certificate courses. A key component of this role is building positive and productive partnerships to ensure that students experience curriculum and learning experiences that allow them to reach their personal best. This will be achieved through proactively and collaboratively working with the school's leadership team to build a faculty that lives the State High values of Learning, Excellence, Respect and Public Education. This work will be delivered through your collaborative processes that build a mindset of visible progress, expertise and culture. Working as part of the school's leadership team you will be instrumental in developing mindsets, pedagogical practices and curriculum knowledge of teachers within your faculty. A key part of your success will be your ability to develop and nurture positive working relationships with, and between, students, parents and staff in a large and complex school community. The Successful Applicant Will Have Responsibility For Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with the Learning and Leadership Team to implement the school's philosophy, vision, and Strategic Plan through cohesive and aligned practice. Drive Excellence in Teaching and Learning: Lead high standards for student achievement by promoting a growth mindset, quality differentiation, and strong alignment between curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. Engage in Professional Growth: Actively participate in research, professional learning, and reflective practice to strengthen leadership and classroom effectiveness. Strengthen Partnerships and Presence: Maintain visibility within the school and develop positive, productive partnerships with parents, staff, government agencies, and the wider community to enhance student success.
