We have an open plan office to promote professional development, collaboration and a friendly workplace culture.About the roleWe are looking for an Associate or Senior Associate level lawyer (2-6y PAE) with demonstrated front-end drafting experience in construction, procurement or commercial matters (ideally all three). All of our lawyers are encouraged to work on both front-end drafting matters and back-end dispute matters, and this role is intended to be primarily front-end, with a split of approximately 70% front-end work and 30% back-end work.The successful candidate will manage matters autonomously under the supervision of our Principals and Senior Associates, and supported by our Associates, Lawyers, Graduates and Clerks. We expect our Associates to proactively support and develop our Lawyers, Graduates and Clerks and to work collaboratively with our other Associates, our Senior Associates and our Principals where necessary for the task or matter.Main duties and responsibilitiesMatters which the successful candidate will work on include:developing contract and procurement documentation for principals (including governments), contractors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers (including for some of Queensland’s largest local government projects)developing suites of template contract and procurement documents for government clients, developers and contractorsundertaking contract reviews for legislative changes or other updates necessitating change to template documentsnegotiating contracts, including dealing with departures and face-to-face negotiationsproviding advice on contract administration, procurement requirements, probity issues and other major project related legal adviceassisting with dispute matters, including litigious matters, as requiredThe successful candidate will be able to work well within our team, delegate appropriate tasks, support, teach and nurture junior staff to develop their skills and knowledge, foster and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with team members and clients and deliver excellent legal work.About youProfessionalPersonablePositiveSolutions and results drivenDetail orientedEncouraging and supportive of othersExcellent time management and prioritisation skillsCollaborative, with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projectsNurturing leadership qualitiesBenefitsOpportunity to work on top-tier projects in a relaxed and positive environmentCompetitive salaryCentral office location close to restaurants, cafes, amenities and scenic walking and running routesHybrid workplaceFriendly and approachable colleaguesParental leaveRegular team social eventsTraining and development opportunitiesPet friendly workplaceReasonable billable targetsMuscat Tanzer values inclusivity and diversity.
