Daily research coordinator at Arctic Station, University of Copenhagen, Qeqertarsuaq, Greenland Arctic Station is situated in Qeqertarsuaq, Greenland. The University of Copenhagen maintains and funds Arctic Station to promote Arctic research and facilitate university level education within all aspects of environmental science. The station operates year-round and is open to a broad variety of scientists and students from all over the World. We have an open position for an enthusiastic individual to work within our station team as the daily coordinator across research and education activities at the station. The daily coordinator plays a key role in managing and supporting station visitors to optimize their stay. Overall, the daily coordinator is part of achieving the aim of Arctic Station to function as dynamic research, monitoring and educational unit at University of Copenhagen. The role as daily coordinator requires strong organizational skills, attention to details, open and service minded, understanding of scientific methodology and the ability to coordinate effectively across teams. It is a full-time position with an uneven distribution of workload over the year. The peak season is from April to September. The remaining part of the year allows for longer periods of absence. The position is for 1-3 years with the possibility of extension. A rental furnished house located close to the main station building is available. The facility has five rooms, kitchen and bathroom for the station scientist (and family). The daily coordinator works in close collaboration with the Station leader, appointed by the Station Board, the other station staff members and the secretariate. The daily coordinator is responsible for: Organize guest accommodation, their access to field and lab facilities, and serve as scientific contact person for guests throughout their stay. Supervision and maintenance of field sites, laboratory facilities, scientific equipment and library facilities. Maintain and execute ongoing Arctic Station inhouse monitoring and research activities as well provide support for scientific courses. Logistical coordination of Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring activities which take part at the station. Assist visiting scientists, students and other guests with practical matters to make their stay at the station fruitful. Develop, update, and maintain an internal knowledge repository, ensuring key resources (e.g., field sites database, internal guidelines, safety procedures are accurate and easily accessible. Work with the Station leader and station staff to ensure that Arctic Station follows safety regulations and that the working atmosphere for staff and guests is sound and inclusive. Assist the secretariate with updating and developing outreach products as well as taking part in mediating outputs from Arctic Station to the public. Expected personal specifications Knowledge: Data and project management Field and laboratory procedures in natural science Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), GIS tools and data management systems Qualifications: A MSc degree or higher in one or several natural science disciplines within biology, geoscience or similar Experience with management of research, teaching and monitoring activities A good record of project administration, optimizing working procedures and logistics Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Language: fluent in spoken and written Danish and English. Knowledge of the Greenlandic language will be valued. Terms of employment The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
