Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.
An incredible opportunity is now available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 to join the team in Cancer Care, located at Nepean Hospital specialising in Prostate cancer. This position is a Temporary 2 year contract in either a Full time or Part time position.
The role of Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse CNC Grade 2 is to work in partnership across all health areas and sectors including non-government agencies to contribute the continuity and quality of care for patients diagnosed with prostate cancer. The practice of the Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse incorporates advance knowledge and skills in supportive care, including providing specialised and tailored information and education, psychological support and clinical care.
Your role is required to develop and implement a coordinated, evidenced based practice that is seamless, patient focused with patients diagnosed with prostate cancer. The post may require some travel and attendance at meetings and forums both within state and interstate. What you will bring to the role:
- Current registration with AHPRA - Division 1 Registered Nurse
- Minimum five years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in Cancer nursing and post graduate qualifications in Medical Oncology &/or Prostate Cancer.
- Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework
- Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research.
- Demonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural change processes.
- Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and experience in the development of specialty education programs.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in patient-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently. Understanding and implementing the PCFA supportive care competency standards.
- A current NSW drivers licence and willingness to use same as required for the position.
