Situated in Braybrook, in the municipality of Maribyrnong, Dinjerra Primary School is a P‑6 co‑educational school of 215 students and 34 staff members. In 2019 the school underwent a $7.4 million upgrade providing a thoroughly modern teaching and learning environment. The students, staff and families value our vibrant community and enjoy opportunities to connect at whole‑school events such as the Family Fiesta, Harmony Week and Movie Night fundraisers. Braybrook itself is undergoing a regeneration, reflected in the demographic changes to the school’s cohort. The school has embedded School‑Wide Positive Behaviours both in classrooms and on the playground, underpinned by our revised school values, SOAR: Learning for Success Learning with Optimism Learning as an Adventure Learning as a Responsibility Teachers work in collaborative teams across nine classrooms, comprising of straight Prep and composite 1‑6 nine‑grade classrooms. Our specialist areas are Art, Physical Education, STEM and LOTE (Spanish). Each class visits the school library once per week and participates in weekly music sessions funded by ACMF (Australian Children’s Music Foundation). Staff are focused on three big ideas of a Professional Learning Community: Ensuring that all students learn at high levels Being results‑driven and informed by data A collaborative culture The intervention program includes Fountas & Pinnell Levelled Literacy Intervention and Sounds Write, a phonics‑based program. Our Wellbeing team, led by the Primary Welfare Officer, Mental Health & Wellbeing Leader and the Assistant Principal, supports students and families. Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to student learning needs. SC2: Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn and evaluating the impact on student growth. SC3: Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice, and providing feedback to students and parents. SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader community. SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning. Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges – range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is planning, preparation and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes, and engaging in critical reflection to improve knowledge and skills. As teachers gain experience, their contribution to broader school programs increases. Teachers may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to their salary range, qualifications, training and experience. Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school; Undertaking other classroom‑related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal; Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions; Undertaking other non‑teaching supervisory duties.
