Overview UNSW invites applications for the MDM Data Governance Manager role. This full‑time, continuing position is located in Kensington, NSW and is part of UNSW’s enterprise data strategy. Responsibilities Lead the development, implementation, and continual enhancement of UNSW’s master data governance framework, policies, and standards. Oversee data profiling, cleansing activities, and adherence to data quality and governance standards. Provide guidance, escalation pathways, and accountability mechanisms to support data owners and stewards. Develop and maintain metadata standards, catalogues, privacy and retention guidelines, business glossaries, and data dictionaries. Ensure governance practices comply with legal, regulatory, and institutional obligations, and prepare evidence and reporting for assurance and governance forums. Partner with stakeholders to embed governance practices, resolve data ownership and quality issues, and build capability through training, toolkits, and awareness initiatives. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in information or data management and extensive experience in large, complex organisations. Proven expertise in data governance, master data management, and related disciplines, with strong knowledge of stewardship models, metadata, data quality, privacy, and records obligations. Demonstrated ability to translate governance frameworks and policies into practical, business‑as‑usual processes. Experience working with diverse stakeholders to embed governance practices and resolve data quality or ownership issues. Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills, with the ability to explain governance concepts clearly to non‑specialist audiences. Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, familiarity with higher‑education regulatory requirements, and alignment with UNSW’s values and standards.
