Editorial Assistant

Are you an Edit Assistant, with a keen eye for detail and passion for supporting editorial teams? Definition Studios is seeking a talented edit assistant to join our Byron Bay post‑production team, as we strive to put inspiring stories on screen. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong technical skills, wanting to make an impact in a dynamic post‑production environment. Our ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, exceptional problem‑solving skills, and the ability to support editorial teams from a technical perspective. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain edit timelines and systems for editors, including file structures, naming conventions, sound syncing, footage logging, and creating string outs and selects timelines. Consolidate edit assets for turnover to post‑production finishing, including reconciling raw footage, collecting sound assets and creating VFX briefs. Archive project files and media systematically. Skills and Experience 3+ years of relevant industry experience in a similar technical role. Strong technical understanding of file formats, codecs, and editorial assets such as AAFs, EDLs, and XMLs. Proficient in DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro. Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with editors, producers, and post teams.
