About The Role Our central Heidelberg Laboratory is seeking an experienced Medical Scientist to join our dynamic team in Biochemistry. The key responsibilities of the role include: Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing Quality Control verification Result interpretation and validation Instrument operation and troubleshooting Training and guidance of the junior team Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols Maintaining current scientific knowledge Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required Participating in training staff as required Liaising with internal and/or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes About You To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements: Experience as a scientist and holder of a B. App. Sc (MLS) or equivalent majoring in Clinical Chemistry Experience with Clinical Chemistry analysers Experience in routine Chemistry and Immunoassay techniques Appreciation of the clinical significance of results Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and focus, and with infrequent supervision An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member Your self-motivation, enthusiasm and ability to work within a positive and proactive team will complement your technical skills within this busy pathology environment This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases Flexibility with hours, including after-hours and work during weekends We believe everyone leads, no matter what role they are in.
