NC Electrical and Air Conditioning (NCE) is a well-established, locally owned electrical, HVAC and renewable energy contractor servicing residential, commercial and government clients across Darwin and remote NT communities. Full Time | Darwin NT | Electrical Contracting & Service | Immediate Start Electrical / Service Estimator (Junior Engineer / Estimator) This newly created position is designed for someone who is technically minded, organised, and wants to grow their career in estimating, electrical design, and project engineering. About the Role You will work closely with the CEO, service coordinator, project managers and site teams to deliver accurate estimates, prepare tender submissions, develop project scopes, review drawings and provide engineering support throughout the lifecycle of service and installation projects. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Tendering Prepare estimates for electrical service works, small projects, repairs and minor installations. Assist with tender preparation for commercial and government projects. Review drawings, specifications and site information to prepare accurate pricing. Develop bills of quantities, take-offs and labour / material breakdowns. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing. Engineering Support Assist with technical assessments, scope development and project planning. Support project managers with design reviews, compliance checks and documentation. Contribute to engineering inputs for solar, backup power and electrical upgrade projects. Assist with drawing updates, design notes and technical submissions. Project Support Provide ongoing technical support for active projects. Monitor variation requests, site queries and changes in scope. Assist with compliance documentation and commissioning records. Work with the service team to ensure pricing, scoping and deliverables align. Business Improvement Help refine internal estimating processes and workflows. Maintain estimating templates, cost libraries and systems. Identify opportunities to improve accuracy and competitiveness in tenders. About You Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or working toward it), or strong experience as an electrical estimator, or a licensed electrician looking to move into estimating / engineering. Solid understanding of AS / NZS , electrical systems and general industry practices. Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail. Confident reading drawings, interpreting specifications and performing take-offs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working with digital tools, cloud-based systems and estimating software. Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple concurrent tasks. Positive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine interest in electrical engineering and project delivery. What We Offer Full-time, long-term role with opportunities for advancement.
