What You'll Be Doing The Aboriginal Mental Health Workforce Program aims to improve the mental health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in NSW by enhancing access to and ensuring mental health services are culturally sensitive and responsive. This traineeship will provide placements and learning in mental health and drug and alcohol services across NSLHD, paid while you study and train towards a degree in Mental Health. Participants will complete a Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) through the Djirruwang program at Charles Sturt University, working under supervision in NSW local health facilities. On completion, opportunities will be provided to continue as a graduated Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician and facilitate ongoing access to mental health services with the local Aboriginal community. Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be a person of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14 of the Antidiscrimination Act 1977 NSW. Aboriginal applicants must demonstrate Aboriginality. Willingness and commitment to learning and self‑development, including completion of the Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) course at Charles Sturt University over consecutive years.
