Biosecurity Queensland monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. With a commitment to developing capabilities and preparedness, we are at the forefront of protecting Queensland against biosecurity risks. Animal Biosecurity and Welfare (ABW) supports BQ's efforts to prevent, prepare, respond to, and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintaining access to markets. Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management and lead the overall DPI response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes consistent with the Department's strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery. Our frontline veterinarians use their knowledge of veterinary science to support and promote an animal biosecurity and welfare system that protects Queensland's economy, environment, lifestyle and human and animal health. A healthy work-life balance for veterinary professionals is promoted with an average 7.25-hour workday. As a Frontline Senior Operational Veterinarian, You Will Use professional veterinary expertise and experience to conduct animal disease investigations and surveillance activities, provide professional advice and analysis based on sound epidemiological knowledge including risk assessments. Develop and maintain effective local and regional relationships, networks and partnerships with veterinary professionals, and wider government, industry and community stakeholders. Actively facilitate team and organisational capability development through knowledge sharing and coaching of colleagues within the broader team. Contribute to the development, execution and monitoring of animal disease activities for prevention, surveillance and incident response. Location is negotiable - Toowoomba, Dalby or Gatton.
