The Appian Solution Engineering team provides technical expertise to our customers around the globe, touching every layer of the Appian platform. From data analysis to creative problem‑solving, our Solution Engineers tackle the most challenging technical problems encountered by Appian customers and partners. As an Associate Solution Engineer, you are a technical “Jack/Jill of All Trades”; you love figuring out how things work, and you’ll be a resident expert on the inner workings of the Appian platform. Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer interaction (verbal and written) to our biggest customers. Demonstrate excellent problem‐solving skills and a talent for identifying creative solutions. Work closely with customers to lead continual improvement in the availability, performance, functionality, and security of our platform. Show interest in data analytics. Be flexible and available to provide after‑business‑hours support (rotated every 10–15 weeks). Tools and Resources Immersion into our community rooted in respect starting on day one, with access to affinity groups that connect peers worldwide. Growth and development opportunities, including an in‑house Appian MBA program for new managers, Appian University (a full library of over 3,000 LinkedIn Learning and Udemy courses), presentation skills training, and tuition reimbursement. On‑boarding training focused on equipping new hires with the skills and knowledge for success through department‑specific training. Mentorship and the First‑Friend program widely utilized resources for new hires. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a similar program. History of academic success (Distinction average required, i.e., WAM 75+). Nice‑to‑Have Experience Bilingual in Japanese and English. Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Java, Perl, Ruby, C#, PHP). Experience with RDBMS platforms (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server). Systems administration knowledge (e.g., Linux, Windows). Location & Expectations This role is based at Level 42/25 Martin Pl, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia. Employees hired for this position are expected to be in the office 5 days a week.
