Apprentice Mechanic – Canterbury Bankstown City Council The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest councils in NSW, serving a diverse community of over 385,000 residents. We deliver 28 key services including childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres. Job Description The Apprentice Mechanic will work closely with the Workshop Operations team, gaining hands‑on experience in the maintenance, servicing, and repair of vehicles, plant and equipment. Under the guidance of qualified mechanics, this role offers practical training and development while working towards a nationally recognised trade qualification. Key Duties Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of fleet vehicles, plant and equipment. Learn to diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs under supervision. Carry out basic servicing tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tyre repairs, and lubrication. Use workshop tools and equipment safely and maintain them in good condition. Use technology to maintain accurate service and repair records. Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with workplace safety standards. Follow instructions from supervisors and adhere to Council and WHS policies. Adhere to all work health and safety requirements. Qualifications & Requirements Completion of Year 10 or equivalent. Current or ability to obtain a C‑class driver’s licence. Genuine interest in motor mechanics and vehicle maintenance. Good communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to learn and follow instructions. Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing the apprenticeship. Salary & Benefits Salary starts at $43,024 (T04) + 12% super; may be negotiable based on skills and experience. Benefits include: An attractive remuneration package.
