Lawyer – Resolution Specialist Manage EDR for the group, including conciliations and contributing to fair legal outcomes directly with customers. Ensure integrity in legal decision‑making company‑wide Exposure to a variety of high‑quality work Join a supportive inhouse team culture In your role as Lawyer – Resolution Specialist at McMillan Shakespeare Group (MMS) you will be responsible for managing the company’s relationship with external dispute resolution bodies, especially the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). You will represent the MMS group in conciliation in AFCA and have direct customer contact. This includes overseeing complaints submitted to these bodies, ensuring the dispute resolution process runs smoothly, and maintaining strong, professional communication with external stakeholders. In addition to handling disputes, the role works closely with the internal Legal team to provide practical, timely, and commercially focused legal advice across the business. The position supports the Group’s operations by helping teams meet their goals while staying compliant with relevant laws and regulations. The Role Manage external dispute resolution processes and represent the Group in AFCA complaints Build strong relationships with dispute bodies, customers, and internal teams Ensure compliance with AFCA rules, legal obligations, and regulatory guidelines Maintain accurate records and deliver clear reporting on complaint trends and resolution outcomes Collaborate with the Customer Advocate to separate internal and external dispute handling Provide legal support across litigation, licensing, regulatory engagement, and legislative updates Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and tender responses Advise on marketing compliance, privacy, and advertising approvals Ensure the Group holds necessary permits and licenses across jurisdictions You will bring Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills Proven ability to work independently with sound commercial judgment and problem‑solving capability High ethical standards and attention to detail Excellent time management and organisational skills At least 4 years’ experience in dispute resolution (preferably in a law firm) An understanding of financial services regulation will be advantageous Skilled in managing competing priorities across a varied workload Experience in client relationship management Law degree and admitted as an Australian legal practitioner What we can offer you Novated leasing benefits and discounts 12 weeks paid parental leave and access to our Parents Portal Comprehensive learning and development opportunities to support your career growth Sonder digital wellbeing platform, providing personalised support 24/7, plus annual flu vaccinations Default Income Protection Insurance reimbursed for members of the MMS Default Super Fund Exempt Employee Share Plan We encourage individuals from all backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, those caring for someone or living with a disability, LGBTQIA+ and culturally diverse applicants to apply.
