Overview The Financial Crimes Compliance Specialist is to work alongside a team of Financial Crime subject matter experts to protect MUFG Pension & Market Services and our customers from financial crime. This will include management of risk types such as Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML / CTF), Sanctions, Fraud and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC). This is a global / group role responsible for enhancing, overseeing, and monitoring the effectiveness of financial crime risk management across all MPMS jurisdictions. The role ensures alignment with applicable regulatory requirements in key regions, including but not limited to Australia, the UK, India, and New Zealand. Reporting to the General Manager, Financial Crime, the role works closely with Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) teams to ensure policies are effectively embedded into business operations and organisational culture. The role focuses on providing expert guidance and advice while developing, updating, and executing Group-wide Financial Crime Compliance policies, processes, and procedures. It includes responsibility for reviewing and assessing financial crime risks and jurisdictional AML / CTF programs to ensure consistency and alignment with Group standards, current and emerging legislation, and evolving business needs across all relevant jurisdictions. Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities Strategic Focus Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) framework across all jurisdictions. Oversee the effective operation of FCC programs across the Group. Provide strategic insights and regular reporting to the General Manager, Financial Crime on financial crime risks, compliance posture, and mitigation strategies. Drive a strong compliance culture by embedding financial crime risk awareness and accountability across jurisdictions. Collaborate with technology, data, and operations teams to shape the future-state FCC technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with Group-wide risk detection and mitigation capabilities. Develop and execute a Group-wide FCC assurance plan covering AML / CTF, sanctions, ABC, and fraud. Contribute to global policy harmonisation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of FCC controls. Operational Management Provide support in maintaining a globally consistent and risk-based FCC / AML program / policy / framework for all AML obligations including CDD, KYC, Transaction Monitoring, risk assessments, reporting, record keeping etc. Ensure Group policies and standards reflect current regulatory requirements and best practices across all relevant jurisdictions. Work alongside Financial Crime compliance managers, AMLCO / MLROs in the local jurisdictions on implementation of group policy and framework. Ensure the advice and guidance to the business and relevant stakeholders is clear, concise and reliable, adhering to AML regulations and best practice. Ensure Group-wide compliance with applicable domestic and international sanctions regimes. Maintain and enhance the Group ABC framework, including policies, procedures, and training. Investigate and escalation potential bribery or corruption incidents in line with Group protocols. Provide assurance reporting to General Manager, Financial Crime. Conduct ABC risk assessments and due diligence on third parties and high-risk engagements. Conduct thematic reviews to assess the design and effectiveness of jurisdictional FCC controls. Support and deliver Financial Crime training across the 1st & 2nd LOD globally. People Leadership Act as a trusted advisor to business units, AMLCO / MLROs and FCC teams in all jurisdictions. Translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, risk-based guidance. Promote awareness through developing / assisting in training, workshops, and ongoing stakeholder engagement. Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to FCC teams across all jurisdictions. Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Support capability uplift through coaching, mentoring, and professional development. Champion diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety within the FCC function. Governance & Risk Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely updates to Group sanctions policies and controls. Promote a culture of integrity and ethical conduct across all levels of the organisation. Support engagement with global regulators and industry bodies on financial crime matters. Provide expert advice to business units and senior stakeholders on financial crime risks and control expectations. Monitor global regulatory developments and ensure proactive alignment with emerging standards. Perform QA reviews on key compliance processes (e.g., KYC, EDD, transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting). Contribute to the development of Group policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance. Identify and escalation control gaps and oversee remediation and continuous improvement initiatives. The above list of key accountabilities is not an exhaustive list and may change from time-to-time based on business needs. Experience & Personal Attributes 8+ years experience in FCC including exposure to one or more of the disciplines e.g. AML, Sanctions, ABAC, Fraud. Proven contemporary FCC experience and deep understanding / operating within relevant legislations (i.e. AML / CTF Act), preferably within financial services. Global FCC experience is highly valued. Ability to engage stakeholders within business to positively impact customer outcomes. Proven experience in AML / CTF program and policy writing, with excellent attention to detail and legislative interpretation. Highly developed negotiation, influential and relationship management skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and informed decision-making capability. Proven leadership and influencing skills. Excellent written and oral communication, and negotiation skills. Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills. Advanced risk maturity, including but not limited to operational risk management frameworks, regulatory compliance and procedures, brand reputation.
