Application Engineering Manager – Large Scale Join SMA Australia as an Application Engineering Manager in our Large‑Scale team. This hybrid role combines remote work with on‑site collaboration in North Sydney. About The Role The Application Engineering Manager (AEM) leads the Application Engineering team and serves as the primary technical point of contact for SMA’s Australian & New Zealand (ANZ) customers and cross‑discipline internal stakeholders. The AEM will have in‑depth knowledge of local market regulations, the Australian National Electricity Rules, NZ Transpower rules, and SMA market‑specific solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of Application Engineers. Coordinate with Sales, Grid Modelling, Product Management, Engineering Services, and Customer Project Management to support internal disciplines. Serve as a technical liaison between the local team and SMA HQ (Germany) technical experts and product managers. Negotiate complex project technical scopes with customers, ensuring risk is mitigated while meeting customer needs. Provide pre‑sales/post‑sales technical support, installation support, and remote troubleshooting. Create and deliver internal and external technical training. Drive competitive analysis, product and customer requirement prioritization, and internal process maintenance. Maintain clear communication and documentation of SMA solutions to customers and stakeholders. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 8+ years of experience in an engineering‑based role. Technical sales experience. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Knowledge of Australian PV & storage industries and relevant regulations. Experience managing a small team of engineers. Familiarity with EPC, consultant, and utility customers. Time‑management and stakeholder coordination skills. Degree or Master’s in Electrical Engineering.
