About the Role Ocius Technology is an Australian company dedicated to developing and deploying cutting‑edge Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) that harness wind, solar, and wave power to remain at sea collecting vital data for defence and civilian applications. We are under contracts with RAN, RNZN, and the USA and are responding in an agile way to an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond. The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our security across our network and infrastructure, including for our fleet of Bluebottles. As we increase our operational capability and capacity, the Cyber Security Engineer will play a key role in continually developing and monitoring our infrastructure. The IT Services team manages our security, IT hardware, software, and networks to ensure we remain operational on and off water. Typical Day as a Cyber Security Engineer Monitoring and analysing security events Developing, reviewing, and maintaining security policies, standards, and operational procedures Supporting compliance activities to meet ISO 27001, E8, and DISP requirements Selection Criteria A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline. Strong understanding of network security architecture, identity and access management, encryption, and secure protocols. Knowledge of security standards and frameworks including ISO 27001, E8, and DISP. Ability to assess and manage risk and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies. Ability to automate security controls and configuration management in cloud and hybrid environments to enhance consistency, scalability, and compliance. Demonstrated experience with cyber security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanners.
