Job Description Staff Cloud Platform Engineer Sydney | Full-time | Hybrid (AU Citizenship required) The Mission At the edge of quantum computing and cloud architecture, this team builds the infrastructure that keeps it all running. Their systems power GPU-accelerated workloads, real-time modeling, and research-grade simulation at scale. This is the layer that turns deep science into reliable software. They’re now looking for a senior engineer to shape that platform’s next chapter. Someone who can think strategically, lead technically, and leave the place stronger than they found it. What You’ll Do Architect and evolve a Kubernetes-based multi‑cloud platform that supports high‑performance computing workloads Lead technical decisions across architecture, standards, and implementation, balancing innovation with reliability Define and execute a roadmap for CI / CD, developer tooling, and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks Guide cloud engineering strategy across multiple teams and help define patterns for scalability, observability, and security Mentor engineers, establish technical excellence, and raise the overall bar for platform quality Build golden paths that make delivery faster, safer, and more predictable Stay hands‑on enough to troubleshoot, design, and refine alongside the team What You Bring 7+ years in Platform, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering Deep experience building and managing Kubernetes in production Expert knowledge of AWS, GCP or Azure, including Infrastructure-as-Code practices Strong background in Linux systems, automation, and troubleshooting Programming fluency in Go, Python, or JavaScript Proven ability to lead technical strategy and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders A steady approach to innovation — thoughtful, evidence‑based, and grounded in real engineering needs Bonus Points Certifications in Kubernetes (CKA, CKAD, CKS) or Cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP) Experience with GitOps tooling such as Argo CD or Flux CD Familiarity with CNCF projects and open‑source community practices Why It Matters This platform underpins software used by scientists, engineers, and customers around the world. Reliability here isn’t a feature — it’s the foundation. The work is complex and strategic, blending architecture with mentorship and hands‑on engineering.
