The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) team in a permanent full‑time leadership role. You will play a vital role in leading the front‑line team, acting as a clinical expert, role model, and mentor. This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with PACU experience who is ready to take on a meaningful leadership role in a busy perioperative setting. Key Responsibilities Provide clinical expertise and act as a resource for nursing staff within PACU and Day of Surgery Admission (DOSA). Support, mentor, and supervise staff to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence‑based care. Lead by example to foster a strong culture of teamwork, respect, and excellence. Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement activities aligned with hospital priorities. Ensure patient care is delivered to the highest standards in accordance with legislative requirements and professional guidelines. About You You are a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse with a strong background in perioperative nursing, particularly in PACU. You are passionate about patient care and staff development, and you’re ready to grow your leadership capabilities in a supportive environment. Essential Criteria Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse. Minimum 5 years’ experience in perioperative nursing (PACU, General Surgery, or Orthopaedics preferred). Proven ability to assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate patient care. Strong clinical decision‑making, communication, and interpersonal skills. Understanding of professional scope of practice, relevant regulations, and quality improvement processes. Flexibility to work a rotating 7‑day roster, including the on‑call schedule. Desirable Postgraduate qualifications in Perioperative Nursing. Previous experience in a clinical leadership, preceptorship, or education role. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent qualifications in nursing education. Completion of a Preceptorship Program. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic digital health systems.
