Investment Director – Energy Transition

Australia’s leading diversified infrastructure group is seeking a Head of Investments for its Energy team. The organisation develops, invests in, and manages renewable energy assets across Australia and New Zealand. As Investment Director, you will lead the finance workstream for the Energy team’s projects, overseeing debt and equity arrangements, financial structuring, risk allocation, and supporting the development of new opportunities. Role responsibilities Screen, develop, close, and invest in greenfield infrastructure and energy projects in partnership with the Head of Development. Evaluate investment opportunities and consortium partners, ensuring credit quality and compatibility. Provide transparent advice on finance, documentation, and risk allocation to key stakeholders. Participate in commercial interactions and presentations with clients and partners. Support development activities with financial modelling and reporting to senior management. Secure binding finance commitments on competitive terms, pursuing innovative financing solutions. Assist in adviser and partner selection (financial, tax, technical) and manage relationships with debt and equity providers. Monitor energy assets post-financial close, including refinancing and strategic initiatives. Ensure financial and tax compliance, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures. Manage cash flow reviews, forecasts, and budget alignment. Knowledge & Expertise Advanced understanding of debt arranging, credit approval, and investment processes. Strong grasp of commercial issues for sponsors and investors in greenfield infrastructure, PPP, and energy projects. Expertise in renewable energy development, financial modelling, and revenue forecasting for solar, wind, and BESS. Advanced equity investment and project finance skills, plus corporate governance and risk management knowledge. Experience 10+ years in a similar role within PPP, energy, construction, or engineering sectors. Significant experience in renewable energy development. Familiarity with financial management systems and ERPs (SAP, FPM or similar). Established industry standing and strong financier/investor network. Background in infrastructure sponsorship, project finance banking, financial advisory, debt arranging, or funds management highly regarded.
