Position Overview As a Special Counsel / Associate Director in our Banking & Finance team, you will play a key role in handling complex transactions, advising clients on regulatory matters, supervising and mentoring lawyers and contributing to the overall success of our practice. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage complex banking and finance transactions, including loan agreements, financing arrangements and regulatory compliance matters Provide expert legal advice to clients on banking and finance regulations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and industry standards Draft, review and negotiate legal documents related to financial transactions. Conduct due diligence to assess legal risks and ensure accuracy in documentation Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs, and providing tailored legal solutions Collaborate with directors, associates and other legal professionals to contribute to the success of the Banking & Finance practice Provide mentorship and guidance to junior lawyers and graduates, fostering their professional growth and development Qualifications and Attributes Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Banking & Finance Law, with expertise in PEXA transactional work Proven track record in handling complex financial transactions, providing regulatory advice and ensuring attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client focused mindset committed to delivering high quality legal services Strong analytical and problem-solving skills In addition, we value candidates with: Effective influencer and negotiator: Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in influencing others and negotiating effectively Resilience and tenacity: Displays a strong ability to bounce back from adversity Leadership and positive team player: Leads by example, fostering a positive team culture with a can‑do attitude How to Apply Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and cover letter to Grace Alexander at ***********@jhklegal.com.au.
