About the role Responsible for coordinating the movement of mining equipment, vehicles, and personnel within the mine site in accordance with relevant policies and procedures to optimise productivity and safety. They work closely with mine supervisors, equipment operators, and other personnel to ensure smooth operations and timely responses to any emergencies or incidents that may occur. Accountabilities Dispatch Operations: Coordinate the movement of mining equipment, vehicles, and personnel according to production schedules, safety protocols, and logistical requirements. Communications: Maintain constant communication with mine supervisors, equipment operators, and other relevant personnel to convey instructions, updates, and emergency notifications effectively. Performance Reporting: Provide accurate and relevant information and insight to line management on performance for a shift, 24‑hour period, and against the weekly plan. Safety Compliance: Ensure that all dispatch activities adhere to safety regulations and procedures, including traffic management, equipment maintenance, and emergency response protocols. Emergency Response: Coordinate emergency responses in collaboration with mine safety teams, including evacuations, rescue operations, and communication with external emergency services if necessary. Data Management: Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, personnel assignments, and production metrics in line with the Time Usage Model (TUM) to support decision‑making and reporting requirements. Equipment Coordination: Monitor equipment availability, performance, and maintenance schedules to optimise utilisation and minimise downtime. Training and Support: Provide guidance and support to dispatch staff, equipment operators, and other mine personnel on operational procedures, safety practices, and emergency protocols. Qualifications and Skills Demonstrated experience in mining operations (mine control). Proficiency with the Modular Mining suite of fleet management tools. Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements for underground mining. Basic level Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel). Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats. Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to prioritise tasks and respond promptly to changing circumstances. Knowledge of mining equipment, processes, and safety regulations. Proficiency in computer systems and software applications relevant to dispatch operations and data management. Ability to remain calm and focus under pressure, especially during emergency situations. Willingness to work in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment, including rotating shifts and extensions of rosters if required.
