About the role
As Senior Platform Monitoring Engineer, you will lead the development and implementation of unified monitoring and alerting/ event management processes and procedures for ABC Platforms. This includes the establishment of associated frameworks and governance; performance and availability monitoring; and enhanced alerting capability. The focus of this work is to successfully detect, alert and proactively respond to technology issues and minimise service impacts.

Key responsibilities

Manage the technology monitoring platforms in scope (e.g. UIM), including management of build and configuration activities and lifecycle management along with related documentation.
Define and implement standardised approaches to developing and maintaining dashboards that enable real time visibility for assorted services, along with the health of underpinning infrastructure services and applications.
Facilitate the integration of pertinent monitoring and alerting platforms into the service management platform (e.g., ServiceNow) and other associated systems.
Enhance operational reliability through the incorporation of monitoring, reporting, and fault handling practices. Provide specialist advice and perform trend analysis to identify opportunities to improve efficiency by automating existing processes.
Collaborate with teams across the Product & Technology division to ensure a standardised approach to deploying and maintaining monitoring and event management practices.
Provide highly specialised support in the management and improvement of CMDB (Configuration Management Database) for Product & Technology along with related discovery tools.
Assist the broader team with Data Centre management/operations and Resiliency Testing as required.

About you In this role you will bring significant professional experience and skills in technology monitoring and alerting services in a complex technical environment, and a sound understanding of technology service delivery frameworks, methodologies, and related process implementation.

Demonstrated extensive experience with at least two of the following products: Datadog, PagerDuty, Splunk, SumoLogic, UIM, DataMiner, Device42, ServiceNow, or Microsoft System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM).
Considerable experience with ensuring high availability and resolving issues in monitoring & alerting services, with a deep understanding of cybersecurity, risk, and compliance requirements within a technology context.
Demonstrated extensive experience in generating capacity and availability reports for technology systems.
Strong skills in leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, with a keen ability to pinpoint issues and areas for enhancement through thorough analysis.
Exceptional collaborative ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, with highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
