This is a fantastic opportunity to join ASIC's Commercial & Employment Law team, providing expert legal advice on a range of matters including commercial contracts, complex procurement, intellectual property, and employment law matters. Location and Compensation : Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra (other locations to be considered). ASIC 4 ($97,401–$115,820 depending on experience), plus 15.4% superannuation. Permanent role. The Team The Commercial & Employment Law Team within ASIC's Corporate Legal Services partners with key internal stakeholders, providing specialised legal advice on contractual transactions (contracts, MoUs, and grants), complex procurement, intellectual property (trademarks and copyright), and employment and workplace relations law. Responsibilities Provide independent legal advice and guidance (under supervision) on commercial contracts, procurement, intellectual property, and general commercial matters. Advise operational teams on legal issues relevant to ASIC as an employer, including the review of employment policies and contracts. Advise on employment law, industrial matters, and WHS matters, and respond to related legal and other claims. Assist with internal reports and briefings concerning commercial and employment law matters. Monitor regulatory reforms, legislative changes, and trends. Work professionally, positively, and cooperatively as part of ASIC, modelling the values of Accountability, Professionalism, and Teamwork. About You Legal qualifications and eligibility to hold or work towards an Unrestricted Legal Practicing Certificate in a State or Territory of Australia. 1–3 years post-admission experience as a lawyer, relevant to commercial and/or employment law and legislation (experience may have been gained in government, in‑house, or private practice). Ability to work independently with limited supervision and be accountable for outcomes. Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive and constructive workplace environment. Strong legal advice writing and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex information to different audiences. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. A client service focus and experience managing diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, financial services legislation, and related policies is desirable. Benefits Attractive superannuation.
