Music mentors - working with young people About the program Saturday Pull Up is a free music program held in Fitzroy every Saturday afternoon - a welcoming space for young people from all backgrounds to tap into their talents. As an embedded community organisation, we respond to the needs of our community. Our young people have told us they would benefit from access to a space where they can be creative, and supported to make their own music. We are also observing that some young people from our existing cohort are drifting away from soccer, school and their families, and we are aiming to use every tool to keep them engaged. About us: Fitzroy Lions was founded in 2013 to ensure all young people can access organised sport particularly those living in public housing or from minority backgrounds who may miss out on these opportunities. That's why Fitzroy Lions is completely free to play the only registered soccer club in Victoria to offer this. No club fees, no registration fees, and all kit is provided free of charge. Alongside our junior teams, we also run community outreach and after-school programs. 90% of our players live in public housing in Collingwood, Fitzroy and Richmond, and without Fitzroy Lions providing football for free, many would miss out. Saturday Pull Up is our new music program, complementing our soccer offering and ensuring we keep young people engaged as much as possible. The role: We are seeking passionate volunteers to mentor and support young people (aged 12-18) each Saturday. Responsibilities Providing hands‑on support to young people, either 1:1 or in small groups Workshopping lyrics and beats Mentoring and providing encouragement/feedback Assisting with recording Supervising other activities (soccer, games) Experience in DJing, production, vocals and/or performance is useful but absolutely not required. We also just need people to help supervise, so please feel free to apply regardless of your musical experience. You will also require a working with children check.
