We are seeking an Intake Officer – Social Worker either based from our Hervey Bay, Bundaberg or Rockhampton service centre locations in joining our northern region Early Childhood Approach (ECA) team. This is a pivotal role utilising your strong knowledge and expertise as a degree-level qualified Social Worker with AASW membership to support vulnerable children and families across regional Queensland to access the supports they need. You will be the first point of contact for complex and vulnerable families referred to BUSHkids, supporting children with developmental delays (up to age 6) or disability (up to age 9), and guiding them through the intake process. Drawing on your social work expertise, you will engage families and carers in strengths based conversations, connect them with appropriate services, advise on short-term early intervention supports, and assist with goal planning, strategies and navigating the NDIS ECA service framework with confidence. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will: Deliver strengths-based, family-centred, and culturally responsive intake and early intervention supports. Work with families to set meaningful goals, provide practical strategies, and connect them with community, mainstream, or NDIS-funded services. Deliver services through various modalities that include, phone, telepractice, centre-based, home or community based visits. Communicate effectively with families, referrers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth and responsive service delivery. Assist families with NDIS access and support them in their journey toward better long-term outcomes. Collaborate across internal teams to strengthen program delivery across all BUSHkids locations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with clinical and organisational standards. Commit to ongoing professional learning, quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to research projects where relevant. This represents up to an additional $5,935 in your pay to cover essential living expenses on top of your base salary Additional 3 days of gifted paid leave over the Christmas period About You You are a passionate and qualified Social Worker looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, balancing compassion with the complex needs of families while delivering on our services within the scope of the NDIS framework. Minimum 4 year degree level qualifications in Social Work with current AASW membership/registration as a Social Worker Experience working with children and families in a social work role with an understanding of multiple and complex barriers faced by regional families Knowledge of early childhood development and developmental delays Understanding of the NDIS, choice and control and the principles of person-centred care Practical, can-do attitude with a passion for supporting children, families and the community Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with ease Flexible and adaptable in responding to changing needs Strong written communication and report writing skills Proficient in the MS-Office suite Alignment with BUSHkids core values – Child-Focused and Family Centred, Collaborative and Accountable Valid Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or ability to obtain before commencement) Current C Class Drivers' License Evidence of Hepatitis B Vaccination status Key Selection Criteria Professional Practice Knowledge and experience in early intervention and prevention services for families and young children including parenting. Knowledge and skills in working with vulnerable families who may experience multiple barriers to accessing services. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to work effectively in a local community to provide high quality services. Able to develop strong professional networks and work collaboratively with other service providers. Leadership/Work Unit Management Committed to ongoing professional development and willingness to share knowledge and skills with others.
