The Opportunity Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will support and/or lead (depending on level) the legal response to regulatory enforcement matters, investigations and regulatory-driven disputes—working closely with senior stakeholders across risk, compliance, privacy, cyber, technology and customer teams. This is a practical, outcomes-focused role centred on regulator engagement, disciplined matter management, remediation and dispute resolution, rather than traditional “court-heavy” litigation. Responsibilities Support and/or lead regulatory enforcement and investigation matters, including regulator notices, information requests and remediation programs Conduct and coordinate factual investigations: document review, interviews and synthesis of findings Draft and settle high-quality regulator correspondence, submissions, chronologies, briefing notes and position papers Develop strategy and options analysis to resolve disputes through engagement, negotiation and remediation Manage escalated complaints and ombudsman-style disputes, including systemic or high-risk matters Partner with internal stakeholders to drive clear actions, timelines, evidence management and “no surprises” escalation Prepare concise updates for senior executives and, where relevant, Board/committee reporting Help design and embed playbooks, templates and governance frameworks for investigations and enforcement response Instruct and manage external counsel where required, including deliverables, budgets and knowledge transfer For Senior level: provide coaching and matter leadership across workstreams, influencing outcomes and setting standards Requirements Law degree and an Australian Practising Certificate (or eligibility) 5–12+ years’ PQE (level will be set based on experience and demonstrated capability) with disputes/investigations experience from a strong firm and/or complex in-house environment Proven exposure to regulatory enforcement, investigations and dispute resolution in a heavily regulated sector Strong drafting skills (regulator correspondence, submissions, investigation materials, executive briefings) and sound judgement on risk and escalation Confident stakeholder management and an ability to operate calmly in time-critical, high-scrutiny matters Solid matter/project management discipline: timelines, document control, privilege awareness and action tracking Desirable: familiarity with privacy/data, cyber/security or critical infrastructure-style compliance issues; experience supporting workplace/ER investigations that intersect with conduct or governance risk If you’re unsure whether your experience meets these requirements, but believe you offer relevant, comparable or transferable experience, please reach out to explore your suitability.
