Job Description We are seeking an experienced Rail Maintenance Planning Manager to lead and coordinate the maintenance planning function across SCT’s fleet of rollingstock and locomotives. Reporting to the General Manager of Engineering and Maintenance, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the required capabilities in the following areas: Lead and manage the maintenance planning function for locomotives and rollingstock across the national rail fleet. Develop and maintain accurate maintenance plans and schedules. Ensure all maintenance activities are scheduled efficiently and aligned with operational and freight requirements. Oversee parts allocation, inventory levels and procurement coordination to support planned and unplanned maintenance. Ensure compliance with rail safety obligations, regulatory standards, internal procedures and asset management frameworks. Optimise fleet availability, reliability and lifecycle performance through strategic planning and continuous improvement. Monitor maintenance performance, reporting on KPIs such as availability, reliability, defects, and maintenance compliance. Identify risks, maintenance trends and opportunities for process improvement. Desired Skills and Experience Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning within the rail industry (locomotives or rollingstock highly preferred). Strong understanding of rail safety regulations, asset management systems and maintenance compliance obligations. Experience with planning systems, scheduling tools and maintenance management software (SAP preferred). Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision‑making skills. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across multiple teams. Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast‑paced operational environment.
